Tyson - A701295 - Pit Bull
Tyson is a brown brindle and white pit bull. He is 1 years old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 3/24/07.
Tyson is a great dog. He is very energetic and loves to play. He walked well on the leash with a little prodding :) He loves people. One thing I noticed is that he barks when he greets people. At first I thought it was aggression but it wasn't. That's just the way he greets because when the person came closer, he jumped and licked them to death. He loves to kiss and cuddle so get ready.
If you are interested in adding Tyson to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.
Sunny - A701579 - American Staffordshire Terrier
Sunny is an American Staffordshire Terrier. He is 1 years old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 3/26/07.
Sunny is extremely calm and gentle. He doesn't pull, he walks way behind and is very docile. He is a little sick, so that could be one reason he is so mellow. When he sees other dogs, he perks up. He's not aggressive towards them, he wants to play. I could only take 2 photos. My battery ran out :( He enjoys his toys. When I went to take it from him, he stepped on the toy, but I got it away from him with little hassle. He wasn't aggressive.
Sunny is amazing. He does have a potential adopter so cross your fingers, but if you're interested please let the Animal Shelter know.
If you are interested in adding Sunny to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.
Jeopardy - A701078 - American Staffordshire Terrier
Jeopardy is an American Staffordshire Terrier. She is 3 years old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 3/22/07.
Jeopardy was amazing. There was no struggling to get her to walk next to me. She fell in line very easily and quickly. I love it !!!!
I loved Jeopardy. She's not too cuddly wuddly but I think once she gets to know you she'll come around. I loved her so much I had to take a picture with her. What a beauty!
If you are interested in adding Jeopardy to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.
KeeyaJohnson - Pit Bull Mix
KeeyaJohnson is a 4 year old pit bull mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 3/9/07.
Keeya was a great companion to hang out with today. She walked well on the leash, and for 4 years old, she still loves to play. She's calmer than most, but you can tell there is a bounce in her step.
Keeya is looking for her forever home.
If you are interested in adding Keeya to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.
Nana - A700754 - American Staffordshire Terrier
Nana is a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 3/20/07.
Nana is a fabulous dog. She was a pleasure to be with. She walks well on the leash at a fast pace. She sat down quietly next to me on the bench. Does this mean I finally succeeded at tiring a dog out??? Probably not, but I enjoyed the rest :)
There was a young woman there today who was interested in Nana. I'm hoping she comes back for her.
Nana is looking for a forever home and would make a great companion.

Angie - A700206 - Pit Bull
Angie is a 7 month old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care and Control Center since 3/15/07.
Angie is one playful pup. She loves her toys too. Like most dogs do, she took that toy and thrashed it about and then carried it off, looking so proud. When I went to take it away, she did not growl or bite. She did try to stop me but wasn't aggressive.
I let her off leash and she was great. She played on her own but then when I was ready to go, she followed. Great walker on leash once you show her who is the leader.
Angie will make a great companion. Loves play time :0

Danny - A700004 - American Pit Bull Terrier Mix
Danny is an American Pit Bull Terrier Mix. He is 1 years old and has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 3/14/07.
Danny is a big boy. When I took him outside, he pulled. He definitely tested my balancing skills. I let him do his business and then brought him inside. Too risky with the ice :(
He sits on command and he stays :) He waited patiently while I got him a treat.. beef jerky. I think with a little training he will stop the pulling because he does listen well. I would reccommend an owner who can handle his strength.
Danny is searching for his forever home.
If you are interested in adding Danny to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.
Dalia - A699413 - Pit Bull Mix
Dalia is a 3 year old pit bull mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 3/9/07.
Dalia is a very good dog. I had no problem walking her on the leash. I let go of it after a while and let her play. She wasn't too interested in the toy like Angie was. When I asked Dalia to come to me, she came without hesitation. Great listener and knows how to sit.
If you are interested in adding Dalia to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.
Buddy - A700515 - American Staffordshire Terrier
Buddy is an American Staffordshire Terrier and is 10 months old. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 3/18/07.
Buddy was so much fun to be with. He walked well on the leash, he knows how to sit and loves beef jerky treats, what dog doesn't :0
After some play time outside we went inside and sat on the bench for some much needed rest, mostly on my part. He laid down by my feet and just hung out with me. Perfectly content. I noticed his past owners didn't treat him very well. He has a lot of scars on his body. In one of the shots you can see one on his tail. I'll never understand why people abuse these dogs, I say "these" because pit bull type dogs are the most abused dog in the world. I guess people think they're invincible, but no living creature is, we all feel pain, maybe they have a higher tolerance for it, but that doesn't give us the right to hurt them. Anyway, that's my little rant for today :)
Buddy is a wonderful dog and is in need of a safe and loving home.
If you are interested in adding Buddy to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.
Gragy - A700421 - American Pit Bull Terrier
Gragy is an American Pit Bull Terrier, he has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 3/16/07. He is 1 years old.
In the beginning Gragy pulled me alot, and I couldn't have that, because it was freakin' slippery out on the roof, so I brought him inside and walked him really fast. I let him get use to me leading and him following, it took a bit, but patience always pays off :)
When I took him outside, oh how sweet it was :) He walked right next to them, I was pleased. I did notice that when I sat down for a rest, he got upset. He would bark and then throw his front paws on the ground, you know, that playing stance ?? Yeah that's it! He wanted me to get up and move my butt or maybe he was being dominant?? Oh well, nonetheless, he listened to me and didn't pull so I was grateful.
Gragy is waiting for his forever home and would make a great companion :)

Pineiro - A700025 - American Pit Bull Terrier
Pineiro is an American Pit Bull Terrier and is only 8 months old. He has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 3/14/07.
Pineiro has lots of energy. When you ask him to sit, he will give you one more, he will lay down :) He walks well on the leash, but I decided to let him go. And when I did, boy can he run fast. When I asked him to come to me, he did. He would run towards me, but stop before he plunged into me... thank goodness :)
You'll notice 2 shots of him laying down, I did not ask him to do that. After he laid down several times on his own, I realized that that is his way of protesting. If he didn't want to keep walking or go around a particular obstacle, he would stop, and lay down. With a little prodding I eventually got him up :)
All in all, Pineiro is a pleasure to me around. When we stopped he kissed and cuddled. Great dog, excellent listener. Will be easy to train :0

Nay Nay - A699332 - Pit Bull Mix
Nay Nay is a 2 year and 6 month old Pit Bull mix. She has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 3/9/07.
Nay Nay is a beautiful little girl. She will probably put on a few pounds once she finds her forever home. She just had pups. It always drives me batty when people use these dogs to breed then discard them :( The sad thing is that only 1 in 10 pups ever finds a forever home. So what happens to the other 9.... Need I say.... ??
Nay Nay walks well on the leash. She knows how to sit and she listens. She would definitely make a great companion.

Jerry - Pit Bull
Jerry is absolutely beautiful. This is note from Sandi about Jerry. If you are interested in him, please contact her.
---Jerry is a neutered, vaccinated 1 1/2 year old male. He is full grown at 40 lbs. He LOVES to cuddle and kiss. He also gets along well with other dogs and is eager to fall into a routine once and for all! He has been shipped from the streets to the shelter to a bad home, and back to the shelter. He is now in a vet kennel. He wants nothing but a chance, and he certainly deserves it, as he is eager to impress. He has some pup energy, but it seems he just wants to play frisbee, who could blame him for that? Overall, he is a very CALM easy going dog, who just wants to relax and sit on your lap. Call Sandi, 718 502 5346, to adopt, and feel free to repost everywhere and anywhere. i cant tell if he is housetrained yet, but he is easy to train, and is at least partly house trained. HE ALSO KNOWS HOW TO SIT (for treats that is :-)---
Thank you :-D

EverGreen - A696774 - Pit Bull Mix
EverGreen is a 2 year and 7 month old pit bull mix. She has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 2/19/07.
I helped out at an adoption event that was held in Soho this past weekend. The weather was amazing. We were able to adopt out one dog, a cocker spaniel. Yeah :)
I volunteered to be EverGreen's guardian. Boy, what an amazing dog!! First off, she has an incredible amount of energy. She was so happy to get out of that cage, she just wanted to fly. She is, by far, one of the strongest dogs I have met. She literally dragged me. I don't blame her at all. She's been in a cage too long. She desparately needs a home. Once she finds a home she will definitely calm down :)
Anyway, despite the fact that she wanted to jet.. she loves people, children included, and loves, and I mean LOVES, belly rubs. She'll just lay down, expose her belly and expect a rub!! She won the heart of one gentlemen who past by. They played together for about a good 20 mins or so. It was beautiful to watch. He already had two dogs in his apartment so he couldn't take her, but he was so touched by her that he offered to help find her a home. Let's hope he can.
EverGreen will do much better in a home as an only dog. She doesn't tolerate "some" dogs very well. The reason I say "some" dogs is because she didn't bark at every single dog. When certain dogs would pass by she would bark at them, but when I nudged her to stop, she did. She listens very well. She just needs to be taught that she doesn't have to bark at other dogs. She can simply let them pass. If I had her long enough I think she would eventually be okay because she started to respond. It's just a matter of telling her a new way to be. The good thing is that she listens. She knows how to sit and loves taking treats... and treats .... and more treats :)
EverGreen is a fabulous dog who has a lot of love and loyalty to share. She needs a strong leader and role model who can handle her strength and who can give her as many belly rubs as she wants :)

Valentine - A696320 - Boxer/American Staffordshire Mix
Valentine is a boxer / american staffordshire mix. He is 1 year old and has been at the Animal Care and Control Center since 2/26/07.
He is tan and white. Mostly tan with white marking between his nose. Sorry no pic of this beauty.
Valentine is an extremely playful and energetic pup. He is okay on the leash. He needs some work but he is still young, so it will be easy to train him. He loves beef jerky treats. It's a good thing he did love them because for some reason he did not like passing a certain door nor turn a certain corner. In order for me to get him to move I had to lure him towards me with a treat. It worked :)
Valentine is wonderful and needs a safe and loving home.

Baby - A698556 - Pit Bull
Sorry for the pic, my camera is shot :(
Baby is a pit bull mix. She is only 9 months old and so wonderful to walk on the leash. She did not miss a beat. She actually walked too close to me, I almost tripped over her:) When we sat down she enjoyed being kissed and hugged and returns the love as well :)
She is amazing and would definitely make a wonderful companion.

Brownie - A698353 - American Staffordshire Terrier
Brownie is an American Staffordshire Terrier. He is 1 year and 6 months old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 3/2/07.
Brownie is a wonderful dog. He walks well on the leash and enjoys being hugged and kissed. I noticed that he is very submissive, and a bit hesitant while outdoors. He carries his head low and his tail between his legs. This could be because he is still new to the shelter and still getting to know his surroundings. When I took him inside and walked around he was the opposite. He was upbeat with head and tail up.
Brownie was a joy to be around today and desparately wants a new home.
If you are interested in adding Brownie to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.
Magdalene - A698345 - Pit Bull
Magdalene is a 3 year old Pit Bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 3/2/07. Magdalene is such a beautiful gray and white pit bull. She pulled a bit on the leash, but that can easily be rectified.
She is very curious about her surroundings and enjoys being pet. What dog doesn't ?

Morris - A698177 - Pit Bull
Camera is broken :(
Morris is a 2 year old pit bull. She is a female despite her name. She has been at the Animal Care and Control Center since 3/1/07.
Morris was obviously starved. Her spine and ribs are very noticable. What a shame and still she has love for humans. Morris walked well on the leash. She did not pull at all. When I sat down she put her front paws on my lap as I pet and hugged her. I could feel every bone in her body.I was afraid to hold her too tight.
Morris is amazing and needs a home where she will be loved completely.

Freddy - A697955 - American Staffordshire Terrier
Excuse the photo. My camera is shot :(
Freddy is an American Staffordshire Terrier. He is 3 years old and has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 2/27/07.
Freddy was a pleasure to walk. He stood by my side the whole time. He seems a bit on the serious side. When I sat down, he immediately sat by my side. He did shake a lot. I thought it was because it was cold outside but then when I took him inside he still was shaking.
Freddy is a calm dog and needs a wonderful home.
If you are interested in adding Freddy to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.
Reeses - A697942 - Pit Bull
Sorry about the pic. My camera broke :(
Reeses is a beautiful brindle pit bull. She is 2 years and 1 month old. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 2/27/07.
It was a pleasure taking Reeses out today. She knows how to sit and loves beef jerky treats. I let the leash go and let her run around. She's fast. She would run ahead of me and then stop and wait for me to follow. I think she thought she was the leader... she's probably right :)
Reeses needs a safe and loving home that can provide her with lots of exercise.
If you are interested in adding Reeses to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.
