Rita - A682755 - Pit Bull

Rita is a Pit Bull and she is 3 years old. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/24/06. I had the honor of walking her today and she was amazing. She has a lot of energy. She was galloping all the way. It was challenging to get her to stop and walk by my side but when I did stop she would come to me and wait till I walked. She knows how to sit also and enjoys treats, she had a hard time taking them from me though, they would always fall out of her mouth :)

Love those ears :)

Sandy - A683277 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Sandy is an American Staffordshire Terrier and she is 2 months old. She is at the AC&C in NYC. She has been there since 10/28/06. She was a pleasure to walk today. Sandy is a very energetic little puppy. She already enjoys playing tug-o-war with the leash. And she loves walking and running beside you. She is a pleasure and undoubtly she will be adopted quickly.

Spike - A683241 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Spike is a 4 month old American Staffordshire Terrier. He is 4 months old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 10/28/06.

He is absolutely beautiful. He runs with you and lays down in your lap. He has a lot of energy. His belly was a little sick today so we just hung out quietly. He fell asleep in my lap. He loves to snuggle. He will be adopted quickly :)

Buoji-A682992 - Pit Bull

Buoji is a great dog. He is a Pit Bull and is 3 years old. I had the pleasure of walking him today. He is very strong and is determined to go his own way so he will need a confident leader in an owner. He knows how to sit and he loves to be petted.

Buoji is at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC. He's been there since 10/26/06.

Alternative Way to Save the Life of A Dog Or Cat

It has recently come to my attention that many of the fur on the market, especially from China, is skinned (mostly alive) from our beloved friends, the Dog and Cat. And don't be fooled, obviously the fur you purchase won't be labeled 100% Dog/Cat Fur. No one would purchase. Be careful with Faux Fur also, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to pass it off as faux because we as the consumer really couldn't tell the difference.

Let's come together and voice our disgrace by NOT purchasing anything with REAL FUR or even Faux Fur.

And despite some people's despise of PETA, let's try to look past that for the Dog and Cats sake. It is obvious who the victim is when you watch this video. Bringing this to the publics attention is a good thing. Please watch with extreme caution!

Sheila - #A682253 - Shiba Inu Mix

Sheila is a Shiba Inu Mix. She is 5 months old and has been at the AC&C since 10/21/06.

Sheila was a little skiddish when I walked her on the roof. Every noise she heard she was alert to and preoccupied. I tried to help her with her nervousness and release some of that bent up energy by running her back and forth. It worked a bit. I wore her out as well as myself. She then was able to sit down and relax, somewhat.

She's a beautiful dog!

Princess - A681048 - Pit Bull Mix

Princess is a Pit Bull Mix. She is 2 years old and has been at the AC&C since 10/12/06.

Princess is a sweetheart. She seemed a bit nervous when we walked so she tried to hurry up and go fast to get it over with. She felt much more comfortable lying down in the corner. At one point she laid down by my feet and kept checking up to see if I was still there. Finally she relaxed a bit and shut her eyes. I think she would get attached very quickly to her new owner.

Truly a wonderful addition to anyones home!

Mateo - A682275 - Rottweiler Mix

Mateo is a Rottweiler Mix. He is 8 months old. He has been at the AC&C since 10/21/06. When I first saw Mateo I was hesitant to take him out. He is big for only 8 months. He is extremely playful and energetic. He took the leash in his mouth and tried to walk me but he wasn't persistent about it. When I just stood there, he dropped it. I was able to get him to calm down with my turky hot dog treats. The photo of him sitting was one of his calmer moments.

He's great :)

Kahlua - A682196 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Kahlua is a 5 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 10/20/06. She was brought in by her owner after she had her pups. This is the reason I am so against breeding. Her owner surrendering her tells me the owner just used her to make pups and now she's useless. I beg to differ.

Kahlua is fabulous. She walks well on the leash, is calm and knows how to sit. She loves my turkey hot dogs too. The first picture is her waiting patiently for me to snap that beautiful shot so she could get her treat. She was incredible.

She would make an excellent companion :)

Rufus - A681263 - Pit Bull Mix

Rufus - Pit Bull Mix



Rufus is a great dog. He is a Pit Bull Mix and is 2 years old. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 10/13/06. Rufus was challenging at first because he pulled me like crazy. He didn't want to sit still for a second. Eventually I was able to get him to walk with me but when he wants to stop and sniff, he is very adamant about doing so. If you pull him when he wants to sniff he will brace himself and keep on sniffing. He won't budge.

I enjoyed his tenacity :)

Da-Mu - A680890 - American Staffordhire

Da-mu is an American Staffordshire and is 1 year and 6 months old. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 10/11/06. He is a big dog but don't let his size fool you. He is calm. Walks very well on the leash and lets you lead the way. He does not jump up at the leash and pull it. Da-mu is one of the calmer of the American Staffs I've encountered, especially at his age.

Happy - A680811 - Pit Bull Mix

Happy is a beautiful Pit Bull Mix. She is 6 months old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/11/06.

Happy is very calm for a puppy. She loves to be hugged, kissed and petted. She walks with you and when you stop she will stop and wait for you to start up again.

A fabulous dog :)

Beautiful Collie Mix

This beautiful Collie mix is a fabulous, friendly, loving dog. She was very upbeat and energetic. When I sat down she would sit down also and wait until I was ready to walk again. She loves to lick and enjoys trotting along side you.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get her unique number or name. When I went to get her information she was already being taken to Bide-A-Wee. Congratulations!

Bubbles - A680109 - Pit Bull Mix

Bubbles is a Pit Bull Mix. He is 1 year and 6 months old. He has been at the AC&C in NYC since 10/6/06.

Bubbles was a little intimidating at first because he was so big but he is wonderful. He walked by my side and did not pull the leash. Yeah! He's a very curious dog and is very alert and aware of his surroundings. Fabulous dog :)

Maggie - A680335 - Pit Bull Mix

Maggie is a Pit Bull Mix. She is 2 years old and is at the AC&C in NYC. She is a feisty one. She tested me all the way. She jumped at me several times but they weren't playful jumps, they felt more like a show of dominance. When she jumped at me I pulled back and gave her a stern look. That's all I needed to do and she fell in line. Beautiful Dog :)

Taino - A680335 - American Pit Bull Terrier Mix

Taino is an American Pit Bull Terrier Mix. He is 1 year and 6 months old. He's been at the AC&C since 10/7/06. Taino is a great dog. He walked calmly and didn't pull the leash. He loves to be petted and loves treats especially small pieces of turkey hot dog. I was able to teach him to sit using these treats. He loves them :)

Lily - A680044 - Boxer Mix

Lily is a boxer mix. She is at the AC&C in NYC. She is 10 months old and has a lot of energy :)

I took her out for a walk today and she was constantly jumping up at me. I tried to stop her by moving back but she was determined and just kept coming at me. She wasn't vicious, just very playful. Lily has been at the AC&C since 10/5/06.

Mooch - A679568 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Mooch is an American Pit Bull Terrier. She is 2 years old and is at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC. She is fabulous. It took some time for her to get into the groove of walking between us but she caught on and it was great.

She is a sweetheart :)

Taysha - A487771 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Taysha is an American Pit Bull Terrier. She is 4 years old and is at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC. She has been there since 10/5/06 and was surrendered by her owner because the owner did not have time to take care of her.

Taysha is a sweetheart. She jumps a bit but when you walk backwards and say no, she stops. She walks great with you also. We walked at a fast pace and she kept up with us and walked between me and my husband. We were a pack!

She is a wonderful dog and would make a great companion!

Zion - A659701 - Labrador Retriever Mix

Zion is a Labrador Retriever Mix. He is 7 months old and is at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC.

Zion is a great dog. He likes to pull the leash but if you show him that you want him to walk by your side he will do so. All I did was stop when he pulled and he would walk back to my side and wait til I walked. This is an easy, effective and "pain-free" way to get your dog not to pull. You may have to do it several times but eventually they get the hint :)

Wonderful companion!

Goof - A679367 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Goof is a 1 year and 6 month old American Pit Bull Terrier. He is at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC. I don't know why they named him Goof. He is not a goof at all. He loves to jump and play but if you say "down" or "no" and move back he gets the hint and soon he's walking nicely by your side.

Great dog!

Rocky - A679200 - White Boxer

Rocky is a 1 year and 2 month old boxer. He is currently at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC.

I had the priviledge of spending time with Rocky yesterday and boy is he a player. He walks by your side but is eager to play. He grabs the leash and starts playing tug of war. He is a beautiful dog.

Malcolm - A678944 - American Pit Bull Mix

Malcolm is an American Pit Bull Mix. He is 1 year and 6 months old. He has been at the AC&C since 9/28/06.

At first I walked by Malcolm's cage several times before taking him out. I was intimidated by his bark. But I decided I was going to take him out anyway and it turns out he is a sweetheart. He walks with you, does not pull the leash and loves to be petted. He is truly a great dog :)

Budha - A588968 - Pit Bull

Budha is a great dog. He is a pit bull and is 2 years and 5 months old. He is at the AC&C in NYC. It was fun taking Budha for a walk. He is very up beat and excited to play. It was a pleasure :)

Daisey - A679223 - Dachshund Mix

Daisy is a Dachshund Mix and is 6 months old. She is at the AC&C and has been there since 9/29/06.

Daisy is very well mannered. She is easy to walk and will sit down beside you when you stop. She is very gentle.

Sandy - A677488 - Pit Bull Mix

Sandy is a beautiful Pit Bull Mix. She is 2 years old and is at the AC&C. She has been there since 9/18/06.

Sandy is great to be with. She walks by your side and does not pull. She loves to chase squirrels and is very strong. When I sat down she cuddled in and sat down to be petted. I had a wonderful time with her :)

Happy - #A678594

Happy is a 1 year old Pit bull mix. He is at the Animal Care and Control center in NYC. He's been there since 9/25/06. I had the pleasure of taking Happy out twice and both times he has been a joy. He is very excited and hyper. He loves to play. Once you get him calmed down he enjoys lounging in your lap and being petted.

He may get adopted today. There were two gentlemen who had an interest in him. Cross your fingers :)
