Lydig - A691790 -Pit Bull Mix

Lydig is a 9 month old Pit bull Mix. She has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 1/8/07.

Lydig was very excited. She pulled and pulled. It took us a while to get her to walk by our side. But after a rigorous walk around the roof she was more than happy to hang out with us.

The key with shelter volunteering is when you get them out of the cage, just walk as much as you can, burn off some of that energy and then they'll be in a better place and happy to love you :)

If you are interested in adding Lydig to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Susie - #A691532 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Update 1/15/07 - Rest in Peace

Susie is a 2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 1/6/07.

Susie was a dream to walk. Extremely calm and walked by our side. No pulling. This is a plus. She enjoys being petted. The hat was my husband's idea :) She looks like a french chef.

Susie is very loving. If you are looking for a calm dog she is it.

Maximus - #A692137 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Update 1/25/07 - Adopted :-D

Update 1/24/07 - Maximus is still available. He has just been neutered. He still has a lot of energy and loves.... and I mean loves .... to play. Even with that thing around his neck he still managed to get a hold of the leash. He even somehow got that round thing off of his head. He's a really funny dog. His past owners must have played tug of war a lot with him :)

Maximus is a 3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 1/11/07.

What an amazing dog! He was very quiet in his cage and walked well outside. He listens well and sits on command. I have to say that he is very playful and slick. He wanted so much to play and tug on the leash. When he started to tug I would tell him "No" and to "sit." He did, but then when I turned my back to walk, he would make a grab for the rope. We repeated this for the entire day. He's hilarious. He finally got the best of me, though and pulled and pulled. I dropped the rope and he stopped playing with it. I grabbed it again and he was okay. The great thing is that he listened.

Maximus deserves a loving and caring home. And to be with someone who likes to play.

Teddy - A691340 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Teddy is an American Staffordshire Terrier. He is 9 months old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 1/4/07.

Teddy is amazing. When I first approached his cage he was lying down. I petted him and he pressed his whole body against the cage bars like a cat :) He even layed down for me to try and reach his belly.

When I took him out I realized he was big and strong. He sniffed about and pulled me. I have to admit I felt a little intimidated but I mustered up my courage to take back control. After I showed him who was in charge he was fabulous. He just needed to know. He wanted so much to play so I got him to run and jump on the bench and then off again. I could feel his joy at being able to release that pinned up energy. He started to tug on the leash. Boy, is in strong. It's pretty scary when dogs start playing tug o' war but I remained calm. He was better at the game than I was. Anyway, he let go of the leash and I took it back. Yeah.

We also gave him some treats for being good. He laid down and we patted his belly.

Teddy is a fabulous dog and would train extremely well. He needs lots of love and affection and a strong leader.

Rex - A690582 - Beagle

Rex ia a 9 year old male beagle. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 12/28/06.

Rex is a very timid dog. He shakes a lot and hesitates. We walked him out on the roof and it was challenging to get him to walk. After he got use to us, he walked with more ease but still was a little reluctant.

Rex is great for someone who is looking for a calm, older dog who just wants to relax.

If you are interested in adding Rex to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Nomad - A691469 - Rhodisian Ridgeback Mix

Update 1/10/07 - Rest in Peace

Nomad is a Rodisian Ridgeback Mix. I think he has some pit bull in him. He is 1 year and 6 months old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 1/5/07.

Nomad was very scattered at first. He's new to the shelter so is still in that bewildered state. We walked him at a fast pace around the outside fence to help burn off some of that excess energy. In about 10 mins he was calmed down and walked nicely by our side. He is a lovable dog and enjoys sitting down with you and hanging out.

If you are interested in adding Nomad to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Dakota - A674197 - Pit Bull

Update: 1/18/07 - Adopted :)

Dakota is a pit bull and is 1 year old. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 12/29/06. The owners gave her up because the apartment was too small.

Dakota is a fabulous female. She is a very confident dog and walked very well on the leash. She was extremely calm, especially for a dog her age.

If you are interested in adding Dakota to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Cash - A690787 - Pit Bull Mix

Update 1/22/07 - Adopted :)

Cash is a pit bull mix. He is 1 year and 8 months old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 12/30/06. The owner had Cash for only 4 months and said they gave him up because they had too many pets. Ummmm!!!!!

Anyway, Cash is a great dog. He loves to be pet and likes to be cuddled. He did pull the leash a bit so he needs some work there, although, it may be that he just was happy to be out and wanted to run :)

If you are interested in adding Cash to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

A689702 - Pit Bull Mix

This beauty has no name yet. He is a pit bull mix and is 4 years old. He has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 12/20/06.

He is absolutely wonderful. He barked like crazy for us to take him out. Once we did, he was quiet as a mouse. He walked well on the leash and loved to be pet and cuddled. He took to my husband very quickly. He would make a great companion.

Diamond - A690125 - American Staffordshire Mix

Diamond is an American Staffordshire Mix. She is 1 year and 1 month old. She has been at the Animal Care and Control Center since 12/23/06 and it's obvious she does not like it at all.

When we had to put her back in the cage she fought us hard. All dogs fight us when we try to put them in but she was extreme. She is a strong dog and needs a strong owner. She wants out bad and it seems the life in a kennel has taken a toll on her very early in the process.

Lady - A689832 - American Staffordshire Mix

Lady is an American Staffordshire Mix and is 1 year and 6 months old. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 12/20/06.

Lady is very easy to walk. She loves to be pet and is just a beautiful dog.

Vito - A689935 - German Shepherd Mix

Vito is a 6 month old German Shepherd Mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 12/21/06.

*Seized Pit Bull Puppy*

I had the great priviledge of taking this beautiful puppy for a stroll. He is about 3 months old. He was a dream to be with, so energetic and loving. All he wanted to do was run and play. He was so curious about his surroundings and got into everything. What a sweetheart :)

Corin - A688146 - Pit Bull Mix

Update: 1/18/07 - Rest In Peace

Corin is a pit bull mix and is currently at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC. She has been there since December 7 and is only 10 months sold.

Corin loves to play. In fact, she'll entertain herself for a long time with a simple toy. She'd be a suitable playmate for active kids, at least teens and up. She would love them, and they would love her. Her playfulness comes from her happy, friendly personality.

Tiffany - A687367 - German Shepherd Mix

Tiffany is a German Shepherd Mix. She is 10 months old and has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since December 1.

Tiffany was found on a school ground in the Bronx. Perhaps she was trying to enroll -- she's that smart! Just 10 months old, she's a German Shepherd mix, but is lighter and smaller than purebred Shepherds. However, her intelligence is comparable. Her temperament is mild and friendly. Given those qualities and her youth, Tiffany could be trained to an advanced degree. Besides being well-mannered, she would be your loyal and devoted companion for many years.

Fred - A640532 - Pit Bull Mix

Update 1/18/07 - Rest in Peace

Fred is currently at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC. He is 1 year and 7 months old and has been at the Acc&c since December 15.

Logos of Cruelty

The above brands associated with these logos test on animals. This does not mean that when a company tests a shampoo on an animal they lather it up and give it a nice shower, instead they slice them open while still alive, they subject them to drugs, and other horrible atrocities. If interested go to http://www.pandgkills.com to find out more. In the meantime, stay clear of these products.

Jerry - A687071 - Pit Bull

Jerry is a 3 year old Pit Bull. He has been at the Animal Care and Control Center since 11/28/06.

Jerry was also eager to get out of his cage. He looks like he was abused on his booty and on his forehead. Signs of an idiot, insecure owner! Anyway, despite Jerry's past he loves people and is okay with other dogs.

Jerry is looking for a safe and loving home :)

Maxwell - A673763 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Maxwell is a 9 month old American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care an Control Center since 12/1/06.

Maxwell is fabulous. He was barking like crazy to get out of his cage. Can you blame him??? He pulled the leash a bit in the beginning but once he walked with us for a while, he calmed down and walked by our side. He loves to cuddle :)
