Meg is a 2 year old pit bull mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 3/14/08.
Meg was found as a stray. When she passed dogs in other cages she sniffed and that was it. There was a huge dog that came out. I think it was a St. Bernard and she was a little nervous about it. She came to me and jumped on me. When the dog left she remained excited, so I had to try and calm her down.
Meg is looking for her forever home.

Alex - A734141 - Pit Bull

Alex is a 2 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/14/07.
Alex was found as a stray. He was laying curled up in his cage with his ears all floppy. Turns out he was not feeling so well. He threw up, but it must of been a good thing for him because after that he was one playful pup. He just loves to be held. It was challenging trying to get a shot of him without him on us because the minute we stopped he would be all over us.
We tried to play ball with him but he wasn't a ball player. He's more of a love bug and lap dog.
Alex is waiting for his forever home.

Mase - A733850 - Pit Bull

Mase is a 2 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/12/07. He was found as a stray.
Mase is a very dominant and strong dog. He needs some heavy duty leash manners. He loves to be massaged and cuddled and kissed. Actually, he demands it :)
I was only able to get 2 shots of him because he was a little obsessed with the camera. Everytime I took it out he would go for it.
Mase needs a strong owner with great leadership skills.

Kiwi - A731629 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Kiwi is a 2 year and 6 month old American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 9/28/07.
Kiwi is a very strong dog. He is also a dominant dog. There's no question about that. He did pull a lot and when we sat down to rest he wasn't interested in cuddling. It was all about sniffing and pooping for him. But, nevertheless, I enjoyed my time with him as I do all of them. I can appreciate his dominance and confidence in himself.
When we brought him back in, we passed by this other dogs cage and the other dog went nuts. After being in their cages for a long time, some dogs will develop "cage aggression," which this dog did. He barked and growled at Kiwi but Kiwi paid him no mind. The other dog was persistent, so Kiwi started to bark and growl back. It was a little scary but we managed to pull Kiwi away. Not that anything could happen through the bars, but still....
The good thing is that Kiwi didn't start a thing. He needs a strong owner, a dominant owner, more dominant than him, and definitely one that can handle his strength.

LLama - A731433 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Llama is a 1 year and 6 month old American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/27/07.
What a beautiful dog Llama is.... Pits are just amazing to me :)
Anyway, Llama did have a pulling problem. He took control the minute he left his cage, but it was amazing how once he was shown that we were the leaders and not him, he quickly stepped in line. It was all a matter of a little tug and nudge here and there. He even wanted to be cuddled after that. Before, he could care less :)
Llama needs a safe and loving home.

King - A731881 - Harrier Mix

King is a 1 year old Harrier Mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/29/07.
Okay, I don't usually take out any other dog unless it's a pit but..... King needed to get out. He had an incredible amount of energy. He jumped off the ground several times. He is very hyper but it's nothing a good old fashion belly rub can't solve :) After a few rounds around the roof, he mellowed out. Thank goodness... for us !
The owners gave him up after 3 days! What???? They said they had no time. Shouldn't they have known they didn't have time for a dog in the first place?? I know, I can go on and on but that would take away from King.
King needs a home that can give him lots of exercise.

May is a 1 year and 6 month old American Staffordshire Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/28/07.
May is a true beauty. She had an extraordinary amount of energy, so we decided to take her for a little spin (run) around the roof. Boy can she haul A** :)
May loves to cuddle and is extremely playful. She is searching for her forever home.

Browny - A731706 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Browny is a 3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/28/07.
Browny is a beautiful dog. Aren't they all? He was a real whiner in his cage, so we took him out right away. He has such a cute whine :) These dogs are so smart.
Anyway, Browny is a very confident dog. He likes to do his own thing and he does pull the leash a bit. He will, though, like any intelligent dog, be patient and stop for a tasty treat.
Browny was a joy to be with today and is looking for a safe and loving home.

Hubert - A730408 - Pit Bull

Hubert is a 2 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/20/07.
Hubert was very timid in his cage. He was shaking and growled at me. I sat down and gave him my back to sniff. He stretched his head as far as possible in order to sniff me. He wouldn't move his feet. He then went back to where he was laying down. I looked at him and he decided to come towards me again. He put his nose between the bars and kissed me. I then took him out and guess what? That big bugger took me for a ride. Boy is he fast, he pulled and pulled and ran and ran :)
Once outside he was so happy. He reminded me of Daddy from Cesar's pack in the way that he walked. He's so big, he waddles :) He's a true love bug and I am so happy I spent time with him today. Although he is sick (his stool was all blood) he was as jolly as could be and as playful as any other dog.

Molly - A730648 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Molly is a 2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/22/07
Molly is a great dog. She walked by my side without any hassle. I let go of the leash and she continued to follow me. She loves treats. She needs to be taught how to sit for them though. She just helped herself to them :)

Jerry - A728834 - Pit Bull Mix

Jerry is a 3 year old pit bull mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/11/07.
Jerry was a seeing eye dog and was found as a stray.
He was a wonderful dog to say the least. He walked immediately by my side without any fuss. We did have a stand off though. I let go of the leash and walked off and he didn't follow. I guess being a seeing eye dog maybe he should be in charge, not sure how that works. Anyway, when I realized he wasn't following me, I turned back and called for him, but he just sat there. We stood facing each other for a while and then I decided to go about my business. And who should come following me shortly after, yep, Jerry. That was easy!

Rex - A729460 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Rex is a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/15/07.
This beauty was whining so much in his cage. I couldn't resist. He would whine, sit, lay down, jump and then repeat the entire number all over again. Finally, he calmed down or just exhausted himself to the point where I was able to get the leash around his neck to take him out.
Once aside he was a dream. Very easy to walk on the leash. I didn't have any problems with pulling. He did go for the leash a few times to play tug of war. He enjoys being hugged and kissed and always returns the love.

Junior - A726396 - Pit Bull Mix

Junior is a 1 year and 5 month old pit bull mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/27/07.
Junior was very deceiving. He was quiet and calm in his cage. I thought, a calm dog, this is good. Okay, when I got him outside, boy was he a ball of energy. I couldn't keep him still. He didn't run, he galloped :) I had no choice but to run with him. Good exercise but it's just too hot. Anyway, I tried to keep up with him. I gave it my best. After a while he exhausted himself and started to walk by my side. Yeah!!!! I noticed he liked to dip his paws in a puddle. Everytime we were about to pass it, he would veer towards it and soak his paws. He's beautiful!
